Time Warner Digital Cable Channels vs. DISH Network
Here at InternetLion.com we can smell spin from a mile away. That’s why when we recently came across Time Warner® Cable promo code site BuyTimeWarnerCable.com, which claims that there are more Time Warner digital cable channels than there are channels in any other provider’s packages. Well, frankly, that was news to us. So we figured we’d check out Time Warner Cable New Hampshire as an example and see if there were as many Time Warner digital cable channels as our Time Warner Cable promo code friends would have us believe.
What follows, then, is a full audit of Time Warner digital cable channels available through Time Warner Cable New Hampshire including Time Warner Cable music channels, On Demand channels, premium movie channels and locals. We’re pretty sure you’ll be surprised to learn how unfounded the claims of the Time Warner Cable promo code site we mentioned above are. We know we were.
Time Warner Cable New Hampshire
Whether you’re looking for Time Warner Cable New Hampshire or Time Warner Cable Kalamazoo, getting into Time Warner’s site is always a pain. First you have to figure out which specific town the company services, then you have to figure out which specific section of that town it services too. What’s more, Time Warner’s site doesn’t function properly in Google Chrome, so prepare to download Firefox, or a gazillion patches to get your version of Explorer up to snuff.
At any rate, the first thing we here at InternetLion.com noticed upon opening the website for Time Warner Cable New Hampshire was that the cable provider only offers one $67.75 per month TV package. This is a far cry from the free choice provided by the five packages under $50 DISH Network® is currently offering. But even so, the InternetLion.com crew kept in mind what we were really after: The package’s channel lineup.
Opening the lineup, then, we found that, strangely enough, the final channel was numbered 1,999. But we knew this had to be a station number, not the total number of channels, because there aren’t 1,999 TV networks in the U.S. Consequently, we decided to count the number of channels ourselves which gave us a total of 499 channels
Naturally at first glance you’re probably astounded to see so many channels. But look closer. See all the shopping, On Demand, Pay-per-view, premium movie and sports channels and Time Warner Cable music channels on the list? Apparently this isn’t Time Warner’s cable package lineup, but a list of every channel the company offers.
So, now, let’s cut the fluff—cut the shopping, On Demand, Pay-per-view, premiums and Time Warner Cable music channels. Also, we noticed there were several duplicate channels in the list, so let’s cut those out too. To be fair, we shouldn’t cut out any of the “free On Demand” channels in the lineup, and yes, we should count local SD and HD broadcast networks Time Warner customers could receiver free-to-air if they wanted.
And what do we come up with? Well, excluding every channel on Time Warner’s list that was included twice, requires you pay extra to watch it, isn’t actually watchable or only exists to sell you stuff, that $67.75 per month package only includes 208 HD and SD channels.
The DISH Network Difference
But maybe this wouldn’t seem so bad if it weren’t for the fact that DISH Network is currently offering cheaper packages with more real channels, contrary to the claims on the Time Warner Cable promo code site that we found. Take, for instance, its America’s Top 250 package, whose lineup comprises over 250 SD channels and 140 HD channels, for a grand total of 390 channels. And get this: This DISH Network package only costs $44.99 per month for 12 months for new subscribers who sign a 24-month Agreement.
What’s more, DISH Network will throw in a long list of goodies, including up to three free HD receivers, a six-month waiver on the company’s $6 per month receiver service fee and three free months of 3 premium movie packages (HBO, Cinemax and Starz)™ for even more HD channel options and all the HD channels in the package’s standard HD lineup Free for Life (for new customers who sign a 24-month Agreement with AutoPay with Paperless Billing)! DISH Network is also offering BLOCKBUSTER Movie Pass with qualifying packages.
Tally that up and DISH Network’s not only offering more channels than Time Warner for less, but DISH Network is also offering over $600 in perks and savings in the first year. Time Warner can inflate their lineup all they want, but they simply can’t top DISH Network deals for value and cost.
