It’s no mystery that for those after subscription TV service but worried about cost, satellite TV offers an extremely palatable alternative. The only question, then, is which of the two major satellite TV providers, DIRECTV® or DISH Network®, offers the lowest-cost satellite TV service.
But, if that’s the information you were looking for, finding an answer is a lot easier than you might think. In fact, you just so happened to have stumbled across a page published expressly to answer your questions; no doubt, after reading the following DISH Network satellite TV deals vs. DIRECTV TV prices comparison, you’ll know once and for all who offers the lowest-cost satellite TV.
To streamline this article we here at InternetLion.com have broken up our comparison of DISH Network satellite TV deals vs. DIRECTV TV prices into two sections. The first of these will describe what you can expect if you order the lowest-cost satellite TV package from both DIRECTV New Jersey and DIRECTV New Orleans; the second will describe a comparable package from DISH Network.
DIRECTV TV Prices
To give you a good idea of the costs associated with DIRECTV we here at InternetLion.com have decided to describe what those ordering TV service from both DIRECTV New Jersey and DIRECTV New Orleans can expect to receive as part of an example deal, DIRECTV’s Choice™ package.
DIRECTV New Jersey offers the residents of our sample community, Woodbridge, four varieties of Choice package: For $29.99 per month they can get 150-plus standard-definition channels on one TV with a standard receiver; for $36.99 per month they can get 150-plus SD channels on one TV with a DVR; for $46.99 per month they can get 150-plus SD channels, 40-plus channels of HD service and an HD DVR receiver, again on one TV; and for $49.99 per month they can get 150-plus HD channels, 40-plus HD channels and an HD DVR on multiple TVs.
Similarly, those ordering service from DIRECTV New Orleans have a choice between the following variation on the Choice package: $29.99 per month will buy them 150-plus SD channels via a standard receiver on one TV; for $36.99 per month they’ll get 150-plus SD channels and a DVR on one TV; for $46.99 per month they can have the DVR, 150-plus SD channels and 40-plus HD channels, but they can only have them on one TV; and, for those with deep pockets, for $49.99 per month they can get the DVR, the SD channels and the HD channels on multiple TVs.
In both locales a Choice package also comes with three free months of Showtime, free professional installation, free shipping and handling and free local channels. And, sure, this might seem like a great deal, but before we pass judgment let’s see what DISH Network has to offer.
DISH Network Satellite TV Deals
Here at InternetLion.com we won’t mince words. The DISH Network deal most comparable to DIRECTV’s Choice package, its America’s Top 120 package, does offer less overall than either the Woodbridge or New Orleans Choice packages. But that’s only if the version of the Choice package in question costs $49.99 per month.
If, on the other hand, the Choice package is one of the less-expensive versions, expect to get more from a DISH Network America’s Top 120 package. Simply put, it includes 120-plus SD channels, 28 HD channels free for life, a free HD DVR upgrade, free professional installation on up to six TVs and 30 premium movie channels—including Showtime, HBO, Cinemax and Starz*—free for three months. And it does all this for the same cost as the cheapest of DIRECTV’s Choice packages.
Of course, maybe you’re a little skeptical that DISH Network could offer so much for so little, but it’s 100 percent true. In fact, all you have to do to get DISH’s all-that-and-a-bag-of-chips Top 120 package is be a new, qualified customer, sign a 24 month agreement and sign up for AutoPay with Paperless Billing. And, since these are things you’d have to do to only get free Showtime and free installation with DIRECTV, it’s not like these requirements make much of a difference.
So, at the end of the day, it seems the real value—i.e. getting more for less—comes from DISH Network. Click here to learn more about switching to DISH Network today and how you can get over $700 in money savings offers during your first year of service.
*Premium Movie package offer requires AutoPay with Paperless Billing and expires 1/31/12. After 3 months, you must call to downgrade or then-current price applies.
