A Recent Episode of Charlie Chat on DISH Network
The most recent episode of Charlie Chat aired on DISH Network 101 on Aug. 23, 2010. It was the show’s 14th anniversary of being on the air so Charlie Ergen and DISH Network Senior Executive Jim DeFranco interviewed two guests instead of just one: NFL RedZone host Scott Hanson and Aaron Paul from AMC’s “Breaking Bad”.
The interview with Hanson was very comical and featured some inside information on the host’s restroom habits. The segment also featured a trivia question about how many touchdowns NFL teams scored in the 2009-2010 season. The prize for answering the question right was a free year’s subscription to NFL RedZone, and Charlie and Jim also announced a fantasy football competition whose winner would take home a free 40-inch flat-screen TV.
As for Aaron Paul’s segment, it was very interesting to hear the actor’s take on his character in “Breaking Bad,” Jesse Pinkman. According to Paul, Pinkman sees himself as the “bad guy,” but is actually the “loveable drug addict.” Charlie Chat also showed a clip from the upcoming season of “Breaking Bad,” and Paul revealed that he actually visited a rehab center to learn more about his character. He also talked about how he came to Hollywood when he was only 17 and how he spent many years working commercial gigs.
The August episode of Charlie Chat was prematurely preempted by a Katy Perry concert. So to recap what viewers missed, DISH Network posted a summary on several online forums. The answer to the trivia question was 1024 and the winner of the free RedZone package was Edward White from Otsego, MN. Ergen also revealed that DISH Network plans to unveil its 3D programming late in 2010, with the caveat that 3D technology won’t hit its stride until 2011. He and DeFranco went on to discuss how 3D technology would be integrated into DISH Network’s technology and how subscribers to 3D channels would likely need 3D glasses.
