And, in light of this, it would be far more honest—if not grammatically correct—to talk about “the best DISH Network deals.” But the fact is we realize some of our readers are searching for keywords like “best DISH Network deals” and “DISH Network best deal.” So, though it feels like we’re splitting hairs, we feel we ought to at least make an attempt.
As for the parameters used to determine DISH Network’s best deal, the InternetLion.com crew considered every facet of the DISH Network programming packages currently offered on our site—from the number of high definition channels in each DISH Network HD package to the overall savings offered. The Best DISH Network Deals: 8 Packages Under $50
If you’ve read any of our other articles you’re probably aware of the fact that DISH Network is now offering eight DISH Network programming packages for less than $50. And since such low prices can make them seem like the best DISH Network deals, we figured it would be best to take a look at these DISH Network programming packages first.
For starters, we know that all eight best DISH Network deals include DISH Network HD packages, and in fact, the DISH America packages are strictly DISH Network HD packages whose lineups only include high definition channels: A DISH America package offers over 60 high definition channels for $34.99 per month in the first year, while a DISH America Silver offers over 75 channels of high definition programming for $49.99 per month.
As for the under-$50 packages that don’t offer high definition programming exclusively, all include a DISH Network HD package add-on option in addition to their standard-definition lineups, HD Free for Life with 24-Mo. Agreement and AutoPay with Paperless Billing: An America’s Top 120 package includes an SD lineup of over 120 channels and an HD lineup of as many as 105 high definition programming channels for $24.99 per month; an America’s Top 120-Plus package includes over 120 SD channels and over 105 HD channels for $29.99 per month; an America’s Top 200 package offers over 200 SD channels and 130 high definition programming channels for $34.99 per month; and an America’s Top 250 package offers over 250 SD channels and over 140 high definition programming channels for $39.99 per month.
What DISH Network means by “Eight packages under $50 per month” is that it offers all eight packages listed above for less than $50 per month for 12 months to qualified new customers who sign a 24-month Agreement and sign up for AutoPay with Paperless Billing. These prices reflect a $10-20 savings per month during the first year.
What’s more, these eight packages include three free months of HBO®, Cinemax®, Showtime®and Starz® (offer subject to change based on premium movie channel availability), free professional installation in up to six rooms, a free HD DVR/receiver, four free months of DISH Network’s receiver protection plan and absolutely no activation fee. DISH Network is also offering BLOCKBUSTER @Home Free for 3 months. All told, the current promotions equal over $500 in savings for the DISH America package and over $700 in savings for the all of America’s Top 120, 120-Plus, 200 and 250 packages in the first year.
But, naturally, these total savings to new subscribers are relative to DISH Network’s usual prices. Figuring out which package offers the best value, on the other hand, means determining which package offers the most services for the least amount of money per month. And, since this can get awfully complicated counting the freebees, the best comparison is probably on a monthly-cost-per-channel basis.
DISH Network Programming Packages
In these terms, each DISH America channel costs about 42 cents per month the first year; each America’s Top 120 and America’s Top 120 Plus channel costs about 13 cents per month the first year; each Top 200 channel costs about 12 cents per channel per month; and each Top 250 channel costs about 13 cents per channel per month. The best value overall, then, is the America’s Top 200 package.
Not only should you consider the savings associated with each package, but the cost per channel per month, the value of DISH Network’s perks, your personal budget and the channels in each package. (After all, even if you can afford it and America’s Top 250 package makes far less sense than, say, an America’s Top 120-Plus if you’re not going to watch the added channels.)
The moral of this tale, as a result, is that determining which DISH Network package is the best is best left to each prospective customer.
